Dr. Paul McLornan, Prosthodontist, Sleep Apnea, Dental Sleep Medicine
Dr. Paul McLornan obtained his dental degree from Queens University,
Belfast in 1996.  He then undertook a one-year general practice
residency at the University of Manchester, England before returning to
Ireland.  There he worked for two years as an associate in a five-dentist
practice, before becoming one of two partners.
After five years of practice ownership, Dr. McLornan started a three-year
Prosthodontic residency at the University of Texas Health Science
Center in San Antonio, Texas (UTHSCSA) under the directorship of Dr.
Robert Cronin.  He graduated with a specialty certificate in
Prosthodontics in 2007. He was awarded a Masters of Science Degree
from the UTHSCSA Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences in
September 2009.
In 2007, Dr McLornan took up a full-time position as an assistant
professor in the Department of Prosthodontics at UTHSCSA where he is
the Director of the Complete Denture Courses. He maintains a private
practice at the school limited to implant, fixed, and removable
Prosthodontics and the treatment of snoring and Obstructive Sleep
Apnea (OSA) using oral appliances. When treating these snoring and
OSA patients, Dr McLornan works closely with referring physicians to
ensure the correct diagnosis, treatment outcome and follow up for these
patients. He also is a member of the graduate faculty of the UTHSCSA
Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, where he serves as a research
committee member and research adviser to a number of Sleep Apnea
related studies. The treatment of OSA using oral appliances is also the
subject of his master's of science research project.
Dr. McLornan has lectured extensively at local, national, and
international meetings and has authored numerous published articles.
He is currently the President of the Texas Section of the American
College of Prosthodontics and is actively pursuing board certification by
the American Board of Prosthodontics. He is a member of the American
Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, American Academy of Sleep
Medicine and is pursuing board certification by the American Board of
Dental Sleep Medicine.
He is an active member of the San Antonio District Dental Society and
currently serves on the Peer Review and Nominations Committee. He is
also a member of the American Dental Association, The American
College of Prosthodontists and the Academy of Osseo Integration.
